Overview

In 2024, PESA implemented a proprietary GanttView platform designed to enhance project planning, resource allocation, and progress reporting. This system significantly improved the efficiency and precision of project management across the company, enabling better tracking of delays and coordination among users.

Objectives

The key objectives of the project were:

  • Increase efficiency and precision in project planning, human resource allocation, and progress reporting.

  • Coordinate the work of hundreds of users from various departments.

  • Create alternative planning scenarios for analysis before finalising plans for implementation.

  • Facilitate printing of schedule variants and data exports for management purposes.

  • Support extensive use of the system for both short and long-term planning.

  • Provide ongoing support with infrastructure and software maintenance, including upgrading the IFS ERP system.

The Challenge

PESA faced several challenges before implementing the GanttView platform:

  • Efficient scheduling of large-scale construction projects, requiring complex resource utilisation schedules for thousands of concurrent projects.

  • The need to visualise and manage hundreds of types of resources effectively, considering the scale and complexity of the projects.

  • Integration with the existing IFS ERP system, which added to the complexity of the implementation.

  • Achieving transparency and consistency in processes to improve resource management and streamline production planning.

The Solution

To address these challenges, the following solutions were implemented:

  1. Proprietary GanttView Platform:
    A custom GanttView platform was developed to enhance project planning and resource allocation. Key features included:

    • Interactive Gantt Charts: Visualisation of project schedules and resources in an intuitive and interactive format.

    • Two-Way Integration: Seamless integration with PESA’s main ERP system to ensure data consistency and real-time updates.

  2. Resource Utilisation and Planning:

    • Utilisation of the Solr search engine to generate daily resource utilisation projections, integrating this data with planned project resources.

    • Visualisation of the critical path to highlight key project milestones and potential bottlenecks.

  3. Enhanced Data Management:

    • User-Friendly Data Presentation: Data was presented in a clear, user-friendly manner to enhance transparency and accessibility.

    • Flexible Application: The platform offered flexibility in data access and visualisation for users at different levels.

  4. Support and Maintenance:

    • Ongoing support for infrastructure and software maintenance, including the upgrade of the IFS ERP source system from version 8 to version 10.

    • Reconfiguration of buffer and integration to ensure continued system performance and reliability.
